Kent and Medway Medical School is seeking an experienced healthcare professional and educator to lead the Year 5 Specialty Lead role in Emergency Medicine, Acute Care and Critical Care within the undergraduate BM BS medicine programme.
On 1 August 2026, The University of Greenwich and University of Kent formed a pioneering new multi-university group — London and South-East (LASE) University Group. The successful candidate will be employed by LASE but will work as part of the University of Kent academic division, contributing to its distinct strengths, community and identity, being part of a wider group that brings together the scale, resilience and shared ambition of both universities.
The role involves working across campus sites in Canterbury and Medway, and conducting extensive liaison work with placement providers based across Kent and Medway.
Key responsibilities:
- Using experience of clinical practice, delivering and contributing to the design of high-quality, demand-driven, and student-centred taught programmes
- Contributing to the delivering, organising and reviewing of the teaching within the BM BS programme
- Using experience of current clinical practice, engaging in quality assurance activity including site visits, reviewing feedback from both students and placement faculty, and evaluating pertinent assessment data
Person specification:
- A primary medical qualification, full registration with the GMC, and a current licence to practise
- In current clinical practice within the NHS and commitment to remain in clinical practice for the duration of the KMMS contract
- Specific interest in medical education and contemporary expertise in curriculum design, delivery and evaluation in undergraduate clinical healthcare and/or medical education
- Postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. Grad Cert), or Membership or Fellowship of the HEA or AoME or equivalent, or willingness to obtain
