Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering

The School of Engineering and Computing is home to a vibrant and growing community of students and staff across a broad range of Engineering disciplines.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic or industry professional with a passion for aerospace engineering, innovation, and developing the next generation of engineers. You will contribute to the delivery and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate aerospace programmes and play a key role in shaping the future direction of aerospace education within the School.

About the role:

- Deliver high-quality teaching across a range of aerospace engineering subjects.
- Lead the development, enhancement and review of modules and programmes.
- Support the continued growth and reputation of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Lancashire.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and projects.
- Contribute to research, knowledge exchange and enterprise activities.
- Build and maintain strong links with industry partners and professional bodies.
- Support accreditation activities and ensure programmes remain aligned with industry and employer needs.
- Provide academic leadership and mentorship to colleagues where appropriate.
- Contribute to student recruitment, outreach activities and open days.

About you:

You will be able to demonstrate:

- A postgraduate qualification (normally a PhD) in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline or equivalent industrial experience including appropriate professional registration.
- Significant teaching, industrial or research experience within aerospace engineering.
- A strong understanding of contemporary aerospace challenges and emerging technologies.
- Active membership of a relevant professional body as appropriate with commitment to obtaining professional registration (if not already held).

- Aerodynamics
- Propulsion systems (in particular electrical propulsion)
- Flight mechanics and control
- Space systems engineering
- Autonomous and uncrewed aerial systems
- Digital engineering, modelling and simulation
- Sustainable aviation technologies
