The University of Nottingham is a pioneering institution providing an exceptional research-led education and an outstanding experience for 46,000 students from more than 150 countries. Built on the ethos that education can unlock potential and transform lives, we feature in the top 20 of all three major UK university rankings, and our graduates are among the most sought-after in the UK.

The Estates and Facilities Department provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings, and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1300 people and provide a wide range of services across our UK sites.

Applications are invited for an individual to join a busy and vibrant team of engineers, engaged in the provision and management of a wide range of Mechanical Building Engineering Services, planned and reactive maintenance and energy management.

Working within the Estates office you will assist in the management and maintenance of key HVAC and associated mechanical building engineering assets and systems ensuring that they are maintained and available as required by all University staff and students. The role involves making decisions on the design, provision, and maintenance of these services to ensure the University can meet its core function of teaching and research. You will also assist with the development and management of the mechanical services asset register and will provide technical input to building and campus asset management plans.

Applicants will have a proven track record and detailed experience in Building Engineering Services maintenance within a large organisation. You will have extensive experience in Building Engineering Services and ideally be a Chartered Engineer and a member of CIBSE or equivalent. Candidates will be self-motivated, be an excellent organiser and have proven leadership qualities combined with excellent communication skills. Due to the frequency with which candidates will be required to drive between university sites a full UK Category B driving licence is essential for this post.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

We strive to provide a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes. We also offer an excellent holiday allowance of 30 days per year, plus additional university closure days and bank holidays.
