Lecturer in Art and Design

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer within the School of Art and Media with primary responsibility for teaching on our BA (Hons) Art and Design Foundation course.

Design at the University of Lancashire has an excellent reputation, with notable graduate success and high scoring NSS. The course works with learners working towards a variety of creative subjects with a team committed to assisting each student to find their interests and develop their creative practice. Duties will include working as part of the foundation team, teaching across several subjects including Illustration, Games Design and Animation. Responsibilities will include teaching, assessment, feedback, module leadership, and workshop delivery.

You will contribute specialist teaching across a range of specialisms at level 3. The successful candidate will introduce subjects and learning skills, deliver engaging teaching, and contribute to the wider academic and administrative life of the course. This includes maintaining student records, supporting recruitment through open days and events, and offering expert guidance on progression to help students select and progress onto their chosen Art and Design degrees.

About you:

The successful candidate will be an individual who can deliver inclusive and inspiring teaching, with a range of skills related to visual communication and media subjects, have their own practice and experience of teaching in a higher education studio environment. You will hold an undergraduate degree in either Illustration, Animation or Games Design. An aligned Postgraduate qualification is desirable. You will have up-to-date knowledge of digital and craft practices, able to teach early level computer aided design via Adobe Suite. You will have the ability to plan and deliver studio-based teaching, seminars, workshops and tutorials aligned with course aims and learning outcomes.
