Laboratory Dental Technologist / Placement Mentor

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dental Technician to join the Queen's Dental Sciences Centre and work within our newly built Placement Dental Laboratory. This is an opportunity to bring substantial industry experience into a new and developing laboratory environment, continue working with live cases and play an important role in developing the practical skills and professional standards of future dental technicians.

The laboratory will support a broad range of dental technology activities, including fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics, orthodontics and digital dental technology workflows. The role therefore provides an excellent opportunity for experienced dental technicians with expertise across these areas.

The key duties of the post holder will be to support the work of the Placement Dental Laboratory, working alongside undergraduate Dental Technology students during their placement activities and providing professional mentoring, supervision and technical guidance on live cases. A major part of the role will involve professional and technical expertise to sign-off dental appliances, ensuring that work is of the appropriate standard before being returned to the clinic.

The successful candidate will also provide practical demonstrations and guidance across a range of dental laboratory equipment, materials, techniques and processes and will contribute to the safe, effective and professional operation of the laboratory.

Professional Membership/Registration with the GDC is an essential requirement for this role.
