The Royal College of Art's Creative & Caring Communities (CCC) Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA) brings together a wide range of RCA expertise and collaborative partnerships to foster innovative doctoral research.

CCC aims to support new themes of research in art and humanities, architecture, design, and communication by cultivating hybrid interdisciplinary approaches with practice research at the centre. The scheme aims to foster collaborative doctoral research practices that generate new ways of knowing and create meaningful impact.

CCC delivers an experience-led and inclusive space for original doctoral research that targets complex spatial, social, cultural and technological concerns. Care is at the heart of resilience. CCC aims to explore new experimental and methodological approaches that advance and contribute to emerging fields of interdisciplinary studies.

- School of Communication and Design
- School of Architecture

Funding Details:
- Fees fully funded
- Stipend £23,805 per annum (pro-rata for part-time students)
- The stipend rate is set by UKRI and will increase with inflation annually
- Open to UK, EU and International Students

RCA is one of 50 universities across the UK funded through the Doctoral Landscape Award scheme, receiving funding for 15 doctoral studentships over five years.

RCA encourages applications from students from groups currently under-represented within UK postgraduate study (Fair Access and Widening Participation).

An Information Webinar for PhD candidates interested in applying for AHRC CCC funding will be held on 6th October 2026 at 9:30am (1 hour maximum). The indicative format includes an introduction, short presentations from School Postgraduate Research Leads, and a Q&A session.
