In this role you will be based in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Faculty Office, providing high-quality executive and administrative support to the Faculty Deanery and help ensure the effective operation of teaching, research and enterprise activity, across a large and diverse faculty.
You will act as a professional first point of contact, manage complex diaries and priorities, coordinate meetings, events and senior visits, and handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
You will also manage key Faculty processes, including research ethics administration, financial administration for Associate Tutor and Visiting Lecturer payments, the monthly Faculty newsletter, SharePoint content, and committee support from agenda planning through to minutes and briefings. Using your initiative, you will gather and analyse information, prepare reports and presentations, improve systems and processes, and build productive relationships across the University and with external stakeholders.
As Faculty Executive Officer you will bring significant administrative experience gained in a busy, complex and changing organisation, together with the confidence to work effectively with senior colleagues and a wide range of internal and external contacts. You will be highly organised, able to balance competing priorities and deadlines, and comfortable working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
You will have strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with a professional and responsive approach to customer service, demonstrating resilience and flexibility in your ways of working.
Experience of project administration, event organisation and financial administration will support your success, alongside advanced Excel and accurate data-entry skills. You will be able to interpret information, draw clear conclusions and turn findings into practical actions. A flexible, proactive approach, sound judgement and the ability to respond positively to change are essential.
Rewards & Benefits:
- A minimum of 36 days annual leave per annum, pro rata (inclusive of bank holiday and University closure days)
- Discounted membership to our onsite state-of-the-art sport and leisure facilities
- Staff benefits scheme, which provides you with discounts across the high street, supermarket shopping, cinema tickets, dining out and more
- Employee assistance programme with access to free confidential counselling sessions, legal & financial advice, and health & wellbeing resources
- A wide range of development programmes to enhance your career
- Beautiful award-winning on-campus working environment
- Automatic enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme
Note: This vacancy is open to internal applicants only. As part of the University's ongoing commitment to redeployment, this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process if a suitable redeployee is identified.
