Applications are invited for the post of Employability Officer within the Careers and Employability Service. The successful candidate will join a collaborative service that works closely with students, academics, employers and other stakeholders to provide high-quality support and maintain professional standards.
The Employability Officer will be central to engaging students in careers and employability services and events via various channels of promotion and liaison. The post holder will also arrange workshops, employer events, information presentations and work with relevant student societies and clubs, including engaging with the Students' Union. You will deliver general high-level administration and will be encouraged to contribute to the development of new initiatives and developments.
This would give the post holder experience of communicating with students in a specific faculty as well as students from any discipline involved in extracurricular activities. The role also involves some one-to-one work with students and liaison with employers and so flexibility will be required to handle the variety of activities involved.
Candidates should be flexible and innovative, seeking to empower students and alumni and engage proactively with service, academic schools and professional services across the university.
The successful candidate may have a background in career development, or other roles that have involved engaging groups of students in positive ways. You will have skills and experience in relationship building, communication, using data, planning and organisation and using your own initiative to deliver high-quality work whilst remaining linked to the activities of the wider team and contributing at a service level.
The Careers and Employability Service, Faculties and University have links to employers across a broad range of sectors, and the role holder will be expected to be involved, sharing sector insights and expertise and developing opportunities for the students.
The role will involve occasional evening and weekend work, according to the needs of the service.
Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week). There will be the option of working from home for up to 40% of the week, subject to delivery requirements. This role is fixed term to 19th September 2027. The post holder will typically start at the bottom of the grading (APM 3), except in exceptional circumstances.
